Scrumdiddaliumptious

Love, love, love...

my new table runner - fresh from the washer and dryer.

Think my FMQ might have improved a little too.

I used my threads from this box

for both the quilting and sewing down the binding.

Deliciously good all round and totally fat free!

FNSI and weekend wrap up

Well Friday night was supposed to be stitching in front of the t.v.
while my beloved Cats played the Hawks.

I didn't get much done and I won't be watching footy until next season.
Stupid game.

I forgot to take photos but I worked on my Rosalie Quinlan BFF.

Over the weekend we had a big tidy up.

Apart from assorted Lego items, shoes and toys, someone found
a mini Milkyway bar - wrapper intact and the grin says it all.
If only I could have shared the excited sounds coming from under that bed.
I thought he had found gold!

I planned my next project (ok one more to my bucket list)
and ordered fabric for it.

Spent some time with the General - he's French.

And my new favorite book - I can't stop looking at it - there are so many
amazing things in here, yes, more for my bucket list.

I hope you had a great weekend - something very satisfying about knowing
that I don't have to go to work tomorrow :)
Sorry Sharon

Busy books birthday

I have been super busy.
I don't think I have scratched myself all week.
Ok maybe a slight exaggeration.
It's the last week of term here and we are madly, insanely, freaking busy.
Project due with oral reports,
RUOK Day - crazy hair day
Coins for India - whole school fund raiser/social justice program,
sports day with our local Catholic College (was a whole lot of fun)
Care Groups (school based pastoral care initiative)
a scout getting his green cord (highest Scout award)
swimming lessons
parent/teacher interviews for 2 high school students
and a fire fighter who is working loads of extra shifts.

Phew!

Thankfully this has turned up to inspire me and make me feel
like maybe I will sew again, one day...
next week when I'm on holidays!

Don't for get you can still enter my give away -
I will draw a winner after school tomorrow.
Can't wait!

Weekend over

It never ceases to amaze me how quickly the weekends fly by
and I'm back at work before I know it.

I spent a lot of time on Saturday cleaning up and sorting
my area - I had new fabric to make way for - you  know
how much my postie likes to leave me presents!

This little monster is back to normal -
I'm not sure what he was thinking but watching him
with these little lights was pretty funny.

I fixed the man's pants so his phone doesn't
get lost in the enormous pockets on the
uniform pants - just stitched a line down the middle of the
pocket, dividing it in two.

Is it really bad that I used this for such a mundane task?

The pants of a fire fighter are fairly important.

Well that's pretty much the weekend here,
apart from the washing, ironing, cleaning, groceries,
gymnastics, Church and paying of bills.

Make sure you pop back tomorrow as I going to have a little give away.

House

I have started a new blog all about the house
so that my sewing and spending is separate from the building.

If you are interested and feel inclined you can find it

Scrap bag

I have often wondered about the value of a
Moda scrap bag.
Well, I am now convinced they are worth it -
especially in this case.
I recently decided that I had to have some of
Lucy's Crab Shack - sadly it is an older line and
not readily anymore.
I managed to find some at Southern Fabric.
I was desperate enough to order it.
Oh I'm glad I did as each piece is a really good size for a scrap.

My vote - scrap bags are great.
Thanks Moda :)

My heart stopped

As I watched my youngest child on the playground equipment yesterday.
Baby bear #3 has autism and struggles with school and friends.
On Friday he started playing on the new equipment at school
with 4 other children from his class.

Double excitement - using the monkey bar and
playing with (not along side) other kids.

I was on yard duty - doing my normal rounds when they called
me over to watch, away he swang and so proud of himself.

I came back a few minutes later to watch him again,
only this time to see him slip and plummet to the ground,
landing on his elbow.

He didn't move but I did!
He grabbed his arm and said "owie" as the tears came.

We got him in to first aid and his arm was very swollen.
2 of our aides had a look and both felt he needed an xray.

Off to the hospital  we went.
2 1/2 hours later we were back at school - he was
excited about his sling.
I was excited it wasn't broken.

So it's a sling and a support bandage for a few days.
As we are leaving he says to the doctor
"I'm going back on the monkey bars when I get back to school."

Not for the rest of this week.

Friday Saturday Sunday

The weekends always seem to rush by in a blur
back into the busyness of the week.

My FNSI was a real flop!
I had intentions of doing all this stuff and did none.

The postie had left me  a couple of new books
and after having a look at them both,
I decided to start a project out of my book
"Quilting on the go".

There was also this parcel...
Still haven't touched the other installments,
bad quilter!

I crashed at about 9:30 - it had been a really big week
at work with our school production and I just couldn't see straight.

Saturday afternoon I picked up my new project and kept going.
I was powering along.

I love Sandra Bullock and managed to get my hands on
2 of her older movies and decided to watch one.
It was a little bit cheesy.

I will save this one for another time as I fear
it too will be the same way.

Sunday we went for a drive by the block
and oh boy were we excited!
There is a sign!
There is going to be action very soon.

In the afternoon I finished my new project - it just needs a button.

I finished the weekend off by stitching a few
more stitches on my BFF.

Friday :)

Ah Friday, my favorite day of the week.

My new book has arrived and my plan over the weekend is
to start one of the projects in here.
It's only a small project but a cute one.

I'm going to deserve a break this weekend.
We've had our whole school "Hollywood Extravaganza"
the last 2 nights and yesterday...

I decided to teach 28 9/10/11 year old children
how to knit.

Is there something wrong with me?

Ooooppps

It happened again!
My dear sweet postman left me a present.
I'm beginning to think he is dropping hints.

Do you think he wants me to make him a quilt???

What a delicious bundle of fabric goodness this is.

I will have to be careful - baby bear #2 has
already made several suggestions for things she could do with
these text prints.

Oh rainbow...skittles!

Do I have to go to work today?
I want to stay at home and make a quilt...
for the postie.

Spring...

Has arrived and I'm loving it!
Warmer days, blossoms, washing drying outside,
longer days, more sunlight, happy people all around
except for the hay fever sufferers - sorry.

Even the postman seems happy.
Just look what he gave me today!

This little text bundle came from Westwood acres
it is a great shop and has lots of yummy fabrics if you feel inclined to buy.

OH be still my beating heart!
This collection of threads is just divine!
Mine came from the Fat quarter shop.

Is it wrong to carry it with me and look at it,
lovingly, longingly ALL DAY LONG?

Have a great day!

Spring

The first of Spring meant that Sharon and I could open our
gifts for the Mrs Martin's swap.
We exchanged gifts way back at Friends in stitches...

Sharon always wraps her gifts so nicely.
Mine to her was wrapped in pink fairies - you can ask Sharon
for that story!

Under the wrapping was this magnificent piece of work.
Love the inclusion of Scrumptious.

And inside it was full of goodies - see...

Thank you Sharon, I feel very special.

This is the pouch that I made and sent to Sharon.

Its a big one.
But not big enough to hold the box of chocolates.

The chocolates were meant to go inside the pouch.
Never ask a man to get some chocolates to go in the bag...

2 days

For a weekend just isn't enough.
Really, by the time you shop, clean and run around after
sports and other child things that really
leaves no time for the important things'
sewing.
I propose a 3 day weekend at least once a month.
That way I think I would get far more done.

I did get a little more done on this - it's slow but there is progress.

I'm working on my Marcelle Medallion again and the quilting of it
is time consuming and laborious - is it a big and heavy quilt.
I'm working on my free motion quilting and having a go
at feathers, for the first time.
They are far from perfect but then so is this whole quilt!

And some one decided to declare yesterday a pj day.
Half his luck I say.
Maybe we should have a pj day once a month...
